See The Signs - Put Down the Fabric and Rotary Cutter

Hi Guys and Gals...
Do you ever have those moments when you have a plan and one little teensy thing throws your plan off, but you don't panic and you move onto something else while you ponder the bump in the road..........THEN ALL MERRY HELL BREAKS LOOSE!

I ran out of Heath to finish off my Modern Buzz Saw!!!!

OK over dramatization but this is how it goes...change of plan

You make some StashBee blocks for April, yes very late because you screwed up the size for the first lot....it's OK, you just breathe and go with the flow and make some more, and pay more attention to the next month's instructions LOL LOL LOL

Feeling good and feeling confident you bust out May's blocks, now we're rocking!
So much fun and done on time and sent in the mail.....April's were fun too once I got my Improv On

Showing you the yellow one again because it makes me happy

Then I took a night off and just sewed a gift for fun using Svetlana's tutorial...make some they are so easy and fun and cute!!

Almost the last of my Sweetwater Make Life Sweet Fabric....it's OK just breathe

New Mum to Be has taught herself to crochet from You Tube but is short on funds and tools and I had these lying around to teach myself to crochet...yeah right when is that going to happen!!

It's always great to give stuff to people who really will use it and not hoard crap keep stuff in a drawer for "someday"

So what's the issue you say?
None really, still can't decide whether or not to now follow the border as per the pattern on Modern Buzzsaw or continue with my plan and just wait for Heath to arrive.....

So let's start another project shall we.....that's how I roll...took me 45minutes to get the above block just how I like it points matching, bias not overstretched all good.....NO... the orientation of the fabric is wrong

That's Ok I tell myself ....good opportunity to show the quilty peeps how easy it is to screw up while concentrating too hard on one aspect....did this one in 2 minutes...sweet....oh no not sweet.... ..........well just look below

One big hot mess of chain pieced disasters and the seam ripper just vanished...I had it 2 seconds before....so I did what any sane woman would do .....I had a little foot stomping Tanty (tantrum to the grownups still reading)......Put down the fabric and Rotary Cutter and backed away

Am I alone.....lie if you have too

Sunday Stash #8 - Just A Few Bits & Bobs

Just a few wee purchases this week my peeps from the absolutely lovely ladies at Quilt Home

Ansonia Mushroom Fat 1/8ths by Denyse Schmidt...I thought these would make nice Churn Dash Blocks using this Tutorial by Amy Smart...what do you think?

Now the Herringbone prints are all just restocks because I looooove them and the others were to round out some other prints that I already have and need to be made into a quilt.....been siting for far too long!!

From the top left we have Picnic Daisy in Orchid and Dove, Chevron in Pink and Orchid , New Wave in Turquoise and Pink ,Woodgrain in Gray and Lodge Lattice in Turquoise.

The Herringbone prints top to bottom are Pink , Turquoise and Yellow

Just to fill out the package which you must always do...right guys and gals??!! Some Violet Craft Waterfront Park, Flight in Black....might need some Charcoal too...all good basics I think.

I always love a nice handwritten note which is always a feature from the Quilthome Angels, and  they always go above and beyond. Hannah is just saying that they added a little extra on some of the prints due to the print being a little out of wack when they cut my pieces...no extra charge!!

Finishes Yay - And Two Have Moved Out Already

Lots and lots of pictures coming up...you were warned

So it seems I have been doing some finishing amid the shambles that is my routine at the moment...yay!

Feels soooo good to look at these all together and feel like I've accomplished something this week and made some other people happy too...doesn't get any better...two of these have already gone to new homes!

This baby quilt was done so quickly ( 2hrs)  that I didn't even get time to take any quilty stats about it.
Eldest son's "Someone Special" has a new nephew arriving any day now and when she saw the other baby quilt come back from the longarmer she fell in love....how could I not offer to make one as a gift??

They were both flying out in a few days to Aussie for 3 weeks so I knew I wouldn't have time to quilt it myself...work, kids blah blah blah...so I quickly text my Quilter and she said sure drop it off 3 day turnaround!!

Machine quilted binding, scrummy chenille backing

And gorgeous hands quilted all over

Too perfect for a wee boy me thinks, last of my Sweetwater Reunion and a little Mormor to round out the primary colours

I couldn't resist a pic of a pile of quilts ready to be bound and snuggled

Binding ready to go

Baby quilt of Triangles that somehow dropped on the floor and got missed from the other Triangle Quilt, so in the spirit of not wasting anything I sewed them together used a skinny white border and had exactly the right amount of Chez Moi by Moda that I have had for far too long...done dusted

And just scrumptious, it's quilted all over in a Fleur de Lis pattern and has softened up beautifully after the dryer

No home as yet for this one
Quilt size 36" x 49"

Little OWB is growing up too fast and obviously observing her Mumma all the time she knows exactly how to turn Lady Muck on even if I switch her off at the wall!! Not even 2 yet...scary

These were early morning photos when wee one was asleep so they are a little bit off in colour. This was purely an exercise in triangle sewing and a colour combo I was stuck on....pink,orange and low volume prints

Once again it washed up beautifully and I love that I used up some of the prints in a scrappy binding...I feel oddly satisfied when a fabric is all gone? Except of course for my must haves then it's PANIC and I must buy more...weird

Finished size is 40" x 63"...also no home as yet

Last but certainly not least the custom baby quilt for Dear Friend's first Grandchild!!! She's only a couple of years older than me but it seems frightening when I have a toddler....AAAAAGH

Mum To Be chose the colours and I really enjoyed pulling from my stash to match her paint chips

I hope she's just as pleased

If you got to the end of this post well done....it was looooong, have a lovely weekend and catch you on Sunday for Fabric stashing....

Work in Progress Peek - Buzzing Around

I don't know about you guys but I have a weird thing about buying magazines and/or books on my iPad....sometimes it's ok and sometimes I just have to have the paper in my hand...but I can't tell you what defines whether or not it's a must have in my hand or ok to have digitally?

image from Diary Of A Quilter

I bought this book by Amy Smart on my iPad.....I think this one was ok because I really didn't need another quilt book right now but the Title appealed to me so much and if it's not winking at me from my shelf I don't feel so greedy

Using this fabric for colour inspiration...trying to challenge myself by using Purple....very hard!

I'm working on Modern Buzz Saw from Amy's book...lots of fun! and it is a Fabulously Fast Quilt!

Easy to piece and so quick to come together

It's good to work with a different colour palette for a change it seems to keep me more engaged with the process rather than drifting off

I think I will change the borders...can never follow a pattern exactly OCD...but I want to highlight the black/white contrast...not sure what I have in mind will work but you don't know until you try LOL

Also April's Stashbee blocks....I know...very late and I've already done May's, but am not sending them until I've done these ones....they look finished but they're not I screwed up the size!!!

So cross with myself but I will be finishing them in the next couple of days just have to get the seam ripper out....grrrr...too busy watching TV and not measuring as I went, just like the kids?
