Stash Bee Finish - Get Your Glasses Out!

I'm just going to make your eyes bleed from colour blindness....you're welcome..mwahahaha

I've got commitments up the wazoo so I will make this short
and sweet

The quilt is part me and part Stash Bee Hive #6 2016, thankyou girls I absolutely love it!!

The link to the tutorial post I did for Stash Bee is here and the original version by Ara Jane from Whatarajaneloves.blogspot.com is here

With all that headache inducing colour on the front I chose a black and white square print for the back

Sandra from Wise Owl Quilting used a really cool variegated thread in a geometric interlocking rectangular all over panto....say that sentence really fast!!!

Last of my Summer anenomes look great against a squished up quilt.....off to the spa now with a gazillion colour catchers.

Linking up the love while Amanda Jean is on Spring Break with Myra for Finished or not Friday and Shelley who's hosting TGIFF

Fractured Heart - Broken,Shattered,Smashed,Snapped,Cracked

Fracture , verb, to break or cause to break

Pretty heavy blog title ain't it??!!

This is a little story about my fractured heart and the quilt that came to be from it

This is the pattern by Kathy Doughty in her book Making Quilts with Kathy Doughty of Material Obsession: 21 Authentic Projects....... that I had checked out of the local library 3 times no less and was always drawn to this quilt and it's title.

I loved the structured wonkiness and the beauty in the slightly askew.....just like my heart

These are the fabrics and the chain piecing that soothed me as I thought about this quilt and some of the fabrics in it

The plain white and the textured red print below are two of Mr OWB's shirts that as I cut up them up and smelled him while I ironed made me cry

This is the manic nature of my creating LOL that made my garage floor look like this...two on the go at once.....you all know you do it!

I worked on it every night til quite late loving the puzzle nature of laying it all out and choosing the colours of my heart

Then I had the epiphany!

This is the piece I was working on at the exact moment of his passing.....and oh how I loathed it
.
It reminded me of how I felt that night and how in my despair I felt so angry at the amount of time my hobby had taken away from my family.

How selfish I had been coveting my sewing time by myself down in our garage when I could've been spending it with him and our little girl....but yet I couldn't throw it away so of course it was destined to be the backing of my fractured heart....maybe even a band aid.

I love this quilt!

And the quilting motif by Sandra is delicious!

I forget the design name now but I think it was along the lines of " Flourishing Heart"

I really love the back now, its where it's meant to be and reminds me how far my wee heart has come from that day.

Always fractured but not lying smashed anymore, and able to look at life with joy and be so so grateful for the past I got to share with him.

Our hearts are resilient and courageous and brave and infinitely strong if we are kind to ourselves and let time do it's work.

It's always a challenge...every...single..day...but how lucky I am to have a hobby that keeps my mind and hands busy while time soothes my heart and lets it open again to the awesomeness that is around me.

Family, friends,my health and a roof over my head.

Pretty damn lucky xxx

Happy International Happiness Day my Quilty Peeps and Thankyou for hanging out from time to time...it's always welcome :)

Sunday Stash #29 - Just A Quick Hi & Bye

Hi Lovely Peeps!

Just a quick in and out so I can rush downstairs and squeeze in some sewing time before the weekend is over...sigh...how can we get a three day weekend and a four day working week to be a real thing!!

So this happened first....Stitchbird had a destash of fat quarters and I spied my fave Posy print by Aneela Hoey, boom sold!

Annnd then

Two of three parcels that I've been expecting from Massdrop...don't judge LOL....finally appeared after tracking them down, apparently they'd been sent with my name, country and postcode.....but no street address? I am definitely not that famous, or hopefully infamous, in my town!
Invisafil 100wt thread for EPP....don't laugh...I will get to do some eventually and a throwback Tula bundle which has a little of everything in it YAY

Third parcel is AWOL but Joe ( from Massdrop ) & I are working on it....yes I know my customer service guy at MD by his first name!!

Then I Love Fabric had a sale....

I was really only looking at the True Colours that were going crazy cheap, like the AMH Filigree in Dusk, the one on the bottom

And the Tula Pink Making Waves in Navy, one on the top

And then the whales called me in their best Dory impersonation sounding whale, and the whole bundle of S.S.Bluebird just flew into my cart

And because the owner Adrienne is so ridiculously awesome at stuffing a flat rate envelope for the overseas peeps, I snagged some Denyse Schmidt Winter Walk and this 8" Clammy ruler and pattern.

I'm super excited about this ruler and pattern by Latifah Saafir and have watched the YouTube tutorial several times.

BUT ...big but for dramatic purposes..
I AM NOT (yelling at myself ) going to start or even cut up any fabric for this until I have completed this months Bee commitments (3) and the two quilts I have lying on my garage floor.

Hold me to it my Quilty Peeps!

So thats a wrap Hi & Bye ;)

I will link  up with My Sparkly Boy when he puts down his Martini!!
